Salinas, CALIF- A new internet scam is floating around trying to get your credit card information using the PayPal logo. Some viewers brought to our attention an internet credit card scam that's showing up in your email inbox. PayPal is a popular payment tool used when buying anything from books to tickets or shoes online. The email shows a purchase to LWP Electronics.
The email then asks you to confirm your account information though PayPal by visiting the given link. But when you click on the link you are taken to a bogus website where scammers grab your personal information and credit card details.
Central Coast News talked with PayPal, they said they will never send users emails asking for personal information like the email scam does. To protect your identify and credit card information, PayPal says never click on links in emails especially if you aren't expecting the email from your bank, the IRS or sites like PayPal. Always open the link in a new browser before logging on to your account---that way scammers won't be able to steal your information.
