SALINAS, Calif. - A man shot after leaving a party on Saturday night became Salinas' first homicide victim of the year.
Police say 20-year-old Frankie Espinoza was shot several times after leaving a party on Tampico Avenue. Officers found Espinoza after friends trying to take him to the hospital crashed their car near the intersection of E. Alvin Dr. and Natividad Road.
Espinoza was flown by helicopter to a Bay Area hospital where he died of his injuries Sunday morning. The homicide is being investigated as gang-related.
