SALINAS, Calif.- A Salinas parolee is stopped at the Mexico border after robbing a Marina police officer of his guns and badge.

Police say 26-year old George Garcia is not allowed to have any guns while he's on parole and not only did he steal some, he stole a police officer's property.

And unfortunately for Garcia, he was a little careless at the crime scene, leading police right to his door step.

Someone at the apartment complex, where he robbed the officer, found a piece of paper and gave to to police; turns out Garcia dropped paperwork from Santa Clara County jail where he was on parole.

Police were able to search his house on Acosta Plaza where they found guns, badges, and other stolen property.

Then the next day by coincidence a parole agent spotted him at a rental car place in Salinas, and checked up on him.

Police put out the be on the lookout across the state, and boarder patrol found someone that fit his description in a store in Colexico, they surrounded the building and arrested him.

Salinas police say the the agencies in and around the boarder have always stepped up to the plate when they need help stopping someone trying to get into Mexico.

Garcia is in custody in Colexico now, and will be brought back up to the Central Coast in the newst few days. He is facing felony violation of his parole and burglary, as well as possession of other stolen property and resisting arrest at the boarder.
