KCBA - Monterey, Salinas, Santa Cruz - News Weather-Daughter of Gilroy Firefighter Dies of Apparent Alcohol Poisoning

GILROY, Calif - On December 5th just before 8:45 a.m. Gilroy police responded to a home in the 9000 Block of Bunting Ct. on a report of a 15 year old girl who was passed out and having difficulty breathing.
She was take to Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy where she later died.
The cause of her death is unknown untill an autopsy is done on Monday December 7th, but alcohol poisoning could have contributed to her death.
The 15 year old was at a sleepover at a friends house when the incident happened. According to Gilroy Police, the three girls consumed alcohol that was some how brought into the house in the early morning hours on Satuday, it is no know how the the girls got the alcohol.
The 15 year old is the daughter of a Gilroy Firefighter. The name of the victim and her family is being kept private at this time to allow the family to grieve and allow investigation to continue.
Family, Friends, and City of Gilroy employees are rallying around the victim's family to provide support.
The Gilroy Unified School District has been notified to prepare for grief counseling when school resumes on Monday.
