Critical Turkey Shortage

Posted: Updated:

SEASIDE, Calif- There is a critical shortage of turkeys for distribution at the Salvation Army Sand City Headquarters.

The turkeys are needed to distribute to needy families in the community for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

In order to meet the needs of those who receive support, the Salvation Army is putting out a plea for the delivery of 300 turkeys to its Good Samaritan Center, 800 Scott Street, in Sand City.  The turkeys can be dropped off anytime between 9 am and 4 pm on Monday, November 23.

"The needs are much, much greater this year," said Diana Gomes, Director of the Good Samaritan Center. " We have taken in more than 700 requests for food assistance for Thanksgiving food distribution boxes.  With those boxes comes a turkey. Right now, we are more than 300 turkeys short of our goal."

For more information call The Good Samaritan Center at 899-4988 or The Salvation Army Monterey Peninsula Corps Offices at 899-4911.
