San Benito County, Calif- Friday, a judge sentenced Mike Rodrigues for raping four women over several years.
Many were emotional when the judge sentenced Rodrigues, former Sgt. with the San Benito Co. Sheriff's office, to 60 years to life in prison.
In his orange jail uniform and chained hands Michael Rodrigues had minimal facial expressions when the sentence was read.
His sister, Deborah, say that she is heart broken and expressed anger when talking about her brother's sentence. " I am appalled and disgusted at the court system in San Benito County. Not only do I feel for my brother, but I feel for all the families that go through trials in this court", she said.
Prosecutor Patrick Palacios says that justice was served for the victims, especially because Rodriguez won't be eligible to get out until he is 109 years old . " I hope this brings closure for the victims and helps them move on", he said.
One victims who spoke out during sentence hearing said she won't forget the pain Rodrigez caused, but its satisfying to know he is now in prison.
" Did you think you can run from the law your whole life? If you make poor choices in life it eventually catches up to you. Stop pointing the fingers at your victims and take it like a man", she said.
