SALINAS, Calif- Police arrested a man suspected of robbing a pizza delivery person with a knife on Sunday.
The robbery happened after 10 p.m. near Cliff Street. According to witnesses, the victim had just completed a pizza delivery when he was approached by a subject asking him for a cigarette.
The victim stated he did not have a cigarette and started to get into his vehicle. According to the victim, the suspect then placed a knife against the victim’s back and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect fled with a minimal amount of money.
Jose Mora was spotted a half an hour later a few blocks away. Police identified him as a suspect and found a folding knife in his possession.
Santa Cruz police also confirm that Mora was a victim in the shooting that happened last month on Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz.
Police say it was drug deal gone bad and that over the last few years they have made several drug-related arrests in the same parking lot where the shooting occurred.
