
SALINAS, Calif. -A Salinas city councilwoman officially threw her hat into the ring Monday to replace Anna Caballero in Sacramento.
In front of the National Steinbeck Center, Janet Barnes announced her intentions to run for the 28th Assembly Seat. A long-time Salinas resident and teacher, Barnes says she plans to focus on crime prevention and creating jobs.
Barnes has been on the Salinas City Council for more than a decade and has served on a handful of regional boards
Anna Caballero who currently holds the 28th Assembly Seat plans on running for the state senate.
