SEASIDE, Calif. - About 200 acres of vegetation were cleared on Monday's prescribed burn at the former Fort Ord.
The fire was set around 9:30 a.m. and was over in about six hours. The Presidio of Monterey will continue to watch the burn area for a few days. However, residents with health conditions are advised to stay indoors through Tuesday.
No other area will be burned in 2010 and the Army will release the dates for the next round of prescribed burns in June of 2010. Over 5,000 acres of vegetation still need to be cleared.
