CASTROVILLE, Calif- Two people have been arrested and a high school was on lock down for two hours.
Around 10:30 a.m. a student was seen with a gun at North Monterey Count High School and the school was placed on lock down.
A search of the school reveled a sophomore to be in possession of an air gun that looked like a real gun. A this time he is being charged with brandishing a replica firearm, conspiracy, and gang enhancements.
Police have also arrested a second student in connection with the incident, he is being charged with conspiracy, gang enhancements, and obstructing an investigation.
There has been several complaints by students and parents alike on how the school handled the situation. Students were tweeting and leaving comments on KIONrightnow.com trying to determine why they were on lock down.
It is the school's policy to notify parents and students after the lock down has been lifted.The school says that they will be either be calling parents throughout the district to let them know of the lock down.
This is the second time that North County has narrowly escaped a serious situation. On October 27 the bomb squad was called to North Monterey County High School for what turned out to be a hoax.
