
The seventh presentation of the Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay will be held in both Monterey and Pacific Grove on Sunday, November 15, 2009. The following information pertains to street closures in the City of Monterey only.
Traffic and parking in Downtown Monterey and the Cannery Row/New Monterey areas will be impacted between 2 AM and 10:30 AM on November 15th. Many streets will be posted "No parking, tow away" in the event area.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to carpool and arrive early.
For participants, waterfront parking lots and the downtown Custom House Garages are accessible until 6:20 AM. To access Downtown Monterey the morning of Nov. 15th, take either the Fremont Street or Munras Avenue exits off Hwy. 1 and continue to Abrego Street which turns into Washington Street. Just follow the signs to the parking facilities.

Start Line on Del Monte Avenue near Camino El Estero – east (toward Seaside) on Del Monte- right on Aguajito to Pearl – right on Pearl to Alvarado – right on Alvarado to Franklin- right on Franklin to Washington – left on Washington to Del Monte – west (toward Pacific Grove) on Del Monte and through the Lighthouse Tunnel onto Lighthouse Curve – Lighthouse Curve to Foam Street – right on Foam to Drake – right on Drake to Cannery Row – left on Cannery Row to David – right on David to Ocean View Boulevard- Pacific Grove portion of the course – right on Ocean View to Fountain Avenue – left on Fountain to Lighthouse Avenue – right on Lighthouse to Congress/Central – right on Central to 17th Street – left on 17th Street to Oceanview – Oceanview/Sunset to Asilomar area – turnaround at Asilomar –- Return via the Coastal Trail at Lovers Point to Cannery Row (David) – Back in Monterey – left down Cannery Row and continue back to Drake – left on to the Coastal Trail at Drake Street – Coastal Trail to the Finish at the Custom House Plaza.
