MONTEREY, Calif- A blessing for the oldest non-indigenous piece of art in Monterey Wednesday.

Bishop Garcia blessed the 215 year old image of Our Lady of Guadalupe before it was replaced at the top of San Carlos Cathedral in Monterey where it's stood since 1794.

Workers removed the artwork two years ago when a conservation project began on the oldest functioning cathedral in California. The original chapel was built in 1794 to honor the King of Spain when the Presidio of Monterey was established.
