SANTA CRUZ, Calif.- Harbor High first-year football coach, Travis Rebbert, was back on the field with his team yesterday.
Scotts Valley Police have cleared his name of any wrong doing in the investigation of money stolen from his office on Whispering Pines Dr.
The head coach noticed the $25,000 the team had worked to raise all summer, was missing a couple of weeks ago. He said he'd been saving it until school started and he could get it into a district account. The football team raised the money in order to keep the program alive.
With district budget cuts around the state, most sports programs this school year will now have to raise all the money to compete.
The district had made the decision to put Rebbert on leave until the investigation was wrapped up, but police said the coach had been cooperative the whole time and was not cosidered a suspect.
Scotts Valley investigators say they hope to make an arrest by the end of this week.
Harbor High opens their season against Pajaro Valley High School at Watsonville's field on Friday night.
