SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif - On Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. 35 firefighters from various agencies responded to reports of a fire at Bethany University in Scotts Valley.
When crews arrived they found the cafeteria fully charged with smoke. Half of the 9,000 square foot cafeteria burned down. The building was being remodeled.
Firefighters were on scene early Wednesday morning putting out hot spots and investigating the cause of the fire. They believe the cause could be related to the remodel.
Right now the estimated cost of the damage is between $700, 000 and $1 million.
No injuries have been reported. Most of the students are out on summer break. There's only about a handful of student and staff still at the school.
