Public Outcry Over Secret Facebook Study
Facebook is responding to public outcry over a secret psychological experiment it admits it did on over 700,000 users. In the covert experiment Facebook intentionally placed positive and negative messages on people’s timeline to see how their moods were affected by those posts. The research showed that those people who received the negative posts generally placed more negative posts on their timeline and the opposite held true for those receiving the positive messages. The study on emotion was conducted by Facebook with the help of Cornell University.
