Kill Switch Added to More Smartphones

Two high tech giants will add kill switches to their smartphones. Law enforcement agencies say this technology is responsible for a dramatic drop in the number of stolen smartphones round the world. The so-called “kill switch” renders a phone useless if it is stolen. Apple already uses the technology on its devices. Google and Microsoft and announcing that they will be offering the technology in new versions of their phone operating systems. Since the technology was included on Apple products in September, thefts have dropped 38% in San Francisco. Customers are applauding the move.
