Police in Watsonville have detained several suspects after a suspected gang-related shooting Saturday evening.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Airport Road and Amber Court at about 6:20 p.m., according to police.

When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the leg, police said.

Police said witnesses saw a light-colored Honda sedan leave the area towards Airport Boulevard.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital. He is expected to survive.

An investigation led to the Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force finding a car that matched the suspect vehicle. Several suspects were detained and a handgun was recovered, police said.

No arrests have been made. The shooting remains under investigation.
