Santa Clara man arrested for allegedly shooting wife
A Santa Clara man has been arrested after allegedly shooting and wounding his wife at an apartment complex late Tuesday morning, according to police.
The shooting was reported around 11 a.m. at the Royal Ambassador apartments at 3450 Granada Ave.
The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Santa Clara police said.
Police later identified the husband as being James Watson from Santa Clara. He was booked for attempted murder, according to Santa Clara Police’s Twitter feed.
Dave Sandoval, 44, who lives at a unit around the corner from the couple, said he didn’t know the couple’s names but said they are both in their 50s.
He said the wife kept to herself, but that he would frequently see the husband, who would often stop to pet Sandoval’s dogs.
“He was a very nice guy,” Sandoval said. “This is very shocking to me right now.”
